President Kim Dae-jung (김대중) won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2000 for his Sunshine Policy of engagement with North Korea, which culminated in the first-ever inter-Korean summit in Pyongyang. A former dissident who survived multiple assassination attempts, he is often called the "Nelson Mandela of Asia."
